British Armed Forces Bases to Host Refugee Applicants in Bid to Cease Hotel Use
Hundreds refugee applicants might be accommodated in defense installations as the authorities works to terminate the use of hotels.
Talks are underway regarding the use of two sites - one in the Scottish region and a second in the south of England - for accommodation for 900 male individuals.
The PM has instructed Home Office and Military Ministry representatives to accelerate efforts to locate suitable defense facilities.
The administration has committed to terminate the use of refugee hotels, which have cost billions of pounds and turned into a central issue for anti-migrant protests.
Proposed Military Locations
Individuals could be accommodated in the Cameron Barracks in Inverness and Crowborough army training camp in the southern county by the conclusion of the coming month.
Industrial sites, short-term shelter and otherwise disused accommodation are also being considered for potential use.
Government Statements
Administration officials stated that each location would meet health and safety standards.
"The government remains extremely concerned at the extent of unauthorized immigrants and refugee lodging facilities."
"The current leadership will close all refugee hotels. Work are well underway, with additional appropriate locations being brought forward to ease pressure on local areas and reduce asylum costs."
Current Housing Statistics
Approximately 32 thousand refugee applicants are at this time being sheltered in temporary lodging, representing a reduction from a maximum of exceeding 56 thousand in the previous year.
A newly released analysis found that substantial amounts of government revenue had been "wasted" on refugee housing.
Previous Military Facility Operation
Two former military sites - the Wethersfield facility in the eastern county and Napier Barracks in Kent - are currently being used to shelter individuals seeking protection after being commissioned under the former administration.
The administration head commented on the circumstances, saying: "I am resolved to close all asylum hotels. Words cannot describe how frustrated and angry we are that we've been left with a challenge as substantial as the current circumstances by the previous administration."
